About Our Academic Program
Lakeland Grace Academy is accredited with N.A.C.E. (National Association of Christian Education). Our students have transferred to other high schools, colleges and universities around the nation. Our Certificate of Accreditation will be faxed upon request.
In the classroom, we utilize the award winning Switched-On Schoolhouse (SOS) Christian education curriculum on individual computers for each student. SOS is a computer-based learning system which is also supported and tutored in our classroom by our own certified teachers. SOS offers five core subjects and a variety of electives that complement learning tools such as 3-D animation, video clips, and other exciting multimedia which enhances the teacher’s ability to customize lessons to meet each student’s individual learning needs.
Switched-On Schoolhouse (SOS) offers a vibrant mix of entertaining lessons, assignments quizzes, and fun-filled lessons designed to captivate the student’s attention and engage them in learning. With features that enhance content and functionality, this award-winning curriculum offers ease, accuracy, and quality academics.
At LGA, we emphasize individual learning. Once a student has individually mastered one concept she may move ahead to the next concept without having to wait on a classroom of students, so many students are able to either catch up or get far ahead in their studies. Professional transcripts and progress reports are maintained by school officials for record keeping. Teachers at LGA are accessible to parents on family weekends as well as by phone or email for updates on their daughter’s academic progress.
For residents who graduate, our graduation ceremonies are a beautiful celebration of the transformation that has taken place in their life. The evening begins with a elegantly decorated dinner that is designed for the graduating students, their families, and invited guests. The graduation service directly follows dinner. Students are presented to the audience in appropriate fanfare, dressed in graduation attire – a cap, tassel, and gown. In honor of graduation our student choir and drama team each performs special selections. There are presentations of completion certificates (including the high school diploma when completed), a special time a sharing for the student and family, and benediction given by a special guest speaker.
Balancing All Areas of Life
To improve her weaknesses and work to her full potential, students are challenged to thrive in a supportive environment that emphasizes on a student’s strengths. We create the necessary setting and provide our students with the skills they need to experience the highest level of academic success. A positive academic atmosphere is achieved through small, conventional classes. To promote a well balanced student we focus on the Mind, Body and Soul. Each area has an intentional focus to maximize their potential and to increase their confidence by placing students in State and National competition in all three areas.
Accountability & Responsibility
Troubled teens that are underachieving in the academic area due to their issues with deviancy, rebellion, low self-esteem, depression or anger management need that unique atmosphere with the personal attention to help them get back on track and develop strategies that lead to success. Students learn the necessary skills to prepare them for the future while they become confident & secure. For many troubled teens poor academic achievement – deteriorating grades in school – is caused by underlying emotional issues. It is our intentions to help each student earn the credits necessary to apply and be admitted into college or the vocation of her choice. Should a student choose not to participate to her full potential in school, she will be placed on academic probation, which restricts her privileges in leisure activities outside of school hours until the problem is corrected. Academic Probation is a supportive disciplinary tool used to help student who are falling behind in school. Any student that falls behind or drops below a 70% in any class is put on Academic Probation. While a student is on academic probation they have restricted privileges in the evenings allowing them extra time to complete missing assignments, extra credit, or redo poorly done work. The conditions of coming off academic probation are set in collaboration between the teacher and the student. This will teach students to put forth a true effort.
Students are given opportunities to take high school courses year-round, so they have the chance to improve their GPA as well as to take elective courses as they desire. Students attend school classes Monday through Friday according to the schedule established. 11th graders are encouraged to take several SAT/ACT test. All students take the California SAT to document the students academic level. An official transcript will be sent to specified schools following the students’ duration at Lakeland Grace Academy, which will contain grades, credit earned, and any standardized testing conducted to show the progress made within our school. Progress reports are sent home bi-weekly.
